Nikola Tesla was featured on the History Channel a couple of weeks ago. In the documentary, they also talked about the "friendly" competition he had against Thomas Edison.

I was a little late here Tesla was the first to have a remote controlled boat and later on the German Navy used similar technology in WWII...here is a link to the story about Tesla
