That baja looks wicked...now picture it with no engine airbreather gas tank or pipe...and a 1/5 scale driver sitting in a bucket seat with steering wheel and window nets.

hi
very weired such threads where people change their mind at minute cycle.
a good zenoah is not doing 10'000 rpm but rather around 18-20'000 rpm.
with an electric conversion i would try to target at least this range or a bit higher.
i still doubt that those open outrunners will do well in real offroad conditions for a longer time.
as for the motor i would look at the 30er series lehners, the big neu or the plettenberg bolido.
as for the esc i would go as big as you can.
i drive large scale models for quite some time now. eventhough i am mostly an electric guy i am still reluctant with converting one of the big cars. those gas engines are not much maintenance and you get great runtimes cool sound etc etc. for me personally it seemed much less necessary to convert those large scalers compared to the nitro 8th scale screamers. however i see that i may be fun seeing a large scale electric and the building itself is sure fun too.
bye

The outrunner conversion has been done and tested before in offroad conditions. As long as you run a dust guard on the back of the outrunner somewere you should be fine for a few runs. Then you'll have to clean it out. And yes I do change my mind quite often. Im not looking to spend $500 on a motor. I am just looking for a basic setup... Hey guys I just had another idea. You think a KB45 17xl on 8s would do? If I recall its 700kv. So 700kv x 29.6v nominal = 20720 max kv.

But then again Im still having 2nd thoughts... "What if the project doesnt turn out the way I planned?"... Those kind of questions are flying threw my head right now. If I dont convert it then I coulda just stick that money into my matrix.

get the 5b and a loud pipe, the neighbors will live, leave 'er stock and convert the matrix. Oh, and don't own more than one brand of cereal at a time. If you had to choose your breakfast you'd never leave home
......on the one hand I love raisins, but they're not magically delicious or grrrrreat...............

I think it's a great idea, my grandpa has a Baja 5b and whenever I drive it it is awesome. You do get an adrenaline rush.

LOL yeah, we have a nickname for storms like this, they are called "screenroom destroyers", because storms like Wilma and Katrina always demolished screenrooms, never mine, but my neighbors ya lol..whoa we are drifting off-topic, sorry Ryan.
