I clean my engines down in Simple Green (how dilluted is up to you, straight up it's very powerful and quite expensive, but even 10:1 it'll cut through most nitro gunk) then hose them out really well with WD-40 to make sure the bearings don't rust. I think my bearings are stainless steel, but it's best not to take that chance. That Simple Green is a great cleaner, and if you put it on your tires and let it sit a little while it helps with traction as well.
