What gearing for crt.5 on MM/VXL motor/ 3s?

Ahh not too bad - I've run the stampede talons before which are 4.6 which is about the same as some offroad buggy tires...

Onroad buggy tires can also be smaller around 4ish

I agree that at 4.5" dia the 1/8 buggy off-road tires are probably too big for anything other than running through grass or flat dirt lots. I would want to do much jumping with that big of a dia because there would be no chassis slap and thus the arms would take all the load on big landings. I find that to be the case even with 4" 2.2 truck tires although that's what I run most.

Yes I have those integy adaptors. I have two sets so I can run all 4 of the smallest adaptors (which are about 3/4 inch). This should be about the perfect addition of offset on the extended chassis. The buggy onroad tires are almost 4.0 exactly. The offroad buggy tires are 4.2 - 4.7 depending on the tread.

Seeing as how mashers are 4.9, and talons are around there too, I dont see how a 1/8 buggy offroad tire will be ridiculous on the crt.5 It will be about the same height but much narrower, which is less rotating mass (easier to turn, easier for the suspension to move, and less weight to snap parts).

Yes there will be extra leverage due to the 3/4 adaptor, but buggy wheels mount flush to the outside of the wheel, so I wont be getting all that much of an offset (1/4-1/2). Should work out well.

I think I am going to try a 12 tooth pinion first...possibly 13. This should be plenty low for even the 4.7 buggy tires.

Instead of getting two sets of the new era jato 17mm adaptors, why not just get one set of the rustler/stampede ones? They are equal offset (unlike the integy) so it would not require two sets to get equal offsets front/rear.

My reasoning for getting two sets of integy's is so I can use the smaller ones and get the offset (where as the new eras do not have any offset).

I will post some pics once everything is installed. Worst case scenario is there is too much heat/ stress on the drivetrain and going to 2.2 tires/wheels will fix that (although they weigh the same/more/less than 1/8 buggy tires depending on the tread).
