Dont want to have that risk of stuff getting inside an outrunner. The reason I chose brushed and lead acid is for winter use. The ESC I might get it waterproof and the motor will be fine and the batts are sealed.

That's pretty damn awesome Ryan! Shame to convert it IMO, but whatever works for you. But since you are dead set on converting it, I really think you would be better off with a center diff style setup rather than transverse mounting the electric motor and using belt drive. Would still have to do belt drive with the center diff style setup, but it would be less complicated. And might work if you offset that center section a bit. Looks great though, and good luck.

Ya I plan on taking out the 2nd gear completely and running a belt from the belt "pinion" to the belt "spur" which is hooked to the bevels shaft for a 1/1 ratio before it hits the center diff for more speed. It shouldnt be to complicated.

Heres a quick sketch of the belt idea... The 1st and 3rd gear would both have the same belt pinion to make it a 1/1 ratio on the tranny. 2nd gear would be taken out completely or used as a guide.

Ah ok. That will work well, but I still think that having an inline motor setup instead of transverse would be better. But whatever works best for you I guess.

If I decided you go directly to the diff I would have to make a bigger and more complicated mount and I would have to dremel the nice pretty aluminum playing that covers and holds the center diff in place.

Sorry to all of you electric fans on here, but I am glad that you are having 2nd thoughts about converting. Honestly I think that platform is just too complicated for a good conversion. And besides, the gas engine adds a bit of realism to it, especially with something that big. Put the gasser back in it and enjoy it.

What did you enter for voltage/current draw? The motor you want can only handle 350W. That's less than 1/2 HP. There's no way it will handle 4000W. 350W is in brushed 540 motor territory. I think you'd be lucky if you got 20 mph with that setup your looking at. I'm all for the conversion, but you need to do some more research before you buy. I would want at least 1000W in that truck to get good performance out of it. 1000W is easy: 20V @ 50A. etc. You should shoot Aqwut a PM. He has a lot of experience with big, powerful conversions. Good luck!
