the dx3r has way more stuff. This is like a JRxs and xr series but 2.4ghz, has all the stuff, epas etc, but not the extra 50 bells and whistles. Still to much crap for me to get around to messing with. Great radio, but not an all pro racer, they have them at hobby people now for $149 with a rx, and you can get more rx from amain for $84. Never had a problem with it, cant tell you the range because ive lost sight of my truck before control of it
