I use lathed Mike's front NEU cover to protect front of the motor and insulating tape on the rear.

Anyone have temps from running stock, and then again after the holes are covered up? I'd imagine there would be some rise in temps covering them. Instead of using tape on the rear, how about some metal screen instead? Would keep the larger stuff out yet allow air to circulate. Of course, some dust would get in there, but it's the big stuff that's a problem...

No, just other delays in getting parts for the prototypes and then testing pushed it back some.
We’ve tested our prototypes and all is well. Production is now gearing up and we expect to have some late October.
Shortly all the motor info will be added to our web pages with pre-orders being accepted.

Bit low for me, I'll hold out for something in 1800-1900kv flavour. Im curious though, all other things being equal, how much more 'power' (torque I guess) would a 4 pole motor generate compared to a 2 pole? Maybe I could just gear up a slower motor, but then I'd worry about my batts maybe.. gah.

I just soldered up some wires for the Medusa 36-60-2000...
I have it geared at 20/58 in an e-revo and with 4S looks like it'll be around 35-37ish.
What gearing would be a good start for 6S? Speeds show mid 50s with RPM around 45K.
I'd like to use the 2X3S packs I have.. but I don't care to blow another MMM as I did with the NEU 1515 1.5D.

The 4 pole will basically in theory make 2 time the torque and you can gear up the lower Kv with 4S lipos.

Depends what speed you are looking for with the 6s setup. I'd say aim for 40-45 as a nice speed, the calculator will tell you the required gearing. I doubt the MMM will blow due to using 6s with that particular motor, vs the neu which is alot more amp hungry by comparison.
As for 2pole vs 4pole torque, thats kinda what I figured, just seems a little too straight forward for my cynical mind.

I'm betting with the MMM it will be a little faster.Mine ran 44 with my Quark 80 with 68/24 gears(40 with a MM) 20/58 is just a little lower,in my Emaxx with a MM 20/58 it runs 39.But thats with dirt bonz that don't expand much.So don't be surprised if that gearing gets mid 40's. On 6s I hit 55.7 with 24/68 gears.

Wire my batts in series instead of parallel, but I'd need something in the ~1000kv range then, rather than 1600kv. Too many possibilites...

Not quite 2 times more. It should have the same gross torque per phase but the RMS torque output will be higher because there are 2 times more pulses per revolution.

I just received a 36-60 1600 from Mike today. This will be going into a Jammin' X1-CRT with X1-CR center diff and Mike's CR motor mount. The original plan was to run 6s Lipo geared 12/46, but Mike's mount doesn't allow anything smaller than a 14t pinion to mesh. That means I'll be running 14/46 and 5s Lipo instead. I hope this motor works out!
