I'm sure they chose the current switch because it is cheap and helps keep costs lower. That and the stock switches are lighter, and some people are looking to shave as much weight as possible.

Makes sense, but you could have the cheapest, lightest switch on the market but if it isnt reliable, it doesnt do much good.
