E-revo to brushless

Hello,

I have a e-revo that I want to convert to brushless, my old motors are broken after only 2 runs!

I am looking for long runtimes with power/speed, I only use this car to bash around. I have been reading very much and came to this set:
- Mamba Monster Max esc
- NEU 1515/1.5D 2,700Kv motor

- motor cover because I drive in dirt very much

Im going to get 2 11.4v lipo's. And I have 2 7.4v Lipos already!

Would this set give me higher topspeed and power? And long runtimes?

What else do I need? How must I wire everything?

Not all items are in stock, which are great replacements parts if they are out?

OR:

Shall I just go with a Novak 6.5 HV set on 11.4 OR 14.8V?

if your going to run 4s get the Neu 1515 1y/f......if your going to run 6s get the neu 1515 2.5d/f........both setups will have long/cool runs times (also depends on your gearing).....i ran the 2.5d in an e-revo conversion that i used to have and it had plenty of torque and speed and the best thing about it was that it also ran super cool on 5s or 6s lipos...the 2700kv motor may run too hot on 6s..in a revo i would go with the 1515 2.5d/f...gear up for top speed runs, gear down for long bashing sessions.....you might also needs some CC 6.5mm bullet connectors and/or deans plugs for the esc to batt connection....don't run the novak...

IMO I would stay away from the 1.5d it will pull alot of amps (this will cause hotter temps and shorter run times)

Im going to run on 4s, so you guys say that the Neu 1515 1y/f is the best choice then?

I saw it wasn't in stock, does someone know when they will be in?

What do you guys think of an Feigao "XL" 9xl motor: http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...AND_XL&cat=20? I use it with the Castle Creations Mamba Monster controller V2: http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...steresc&cat=20

On a 4s lipo, would this be a good setup? Or does the motor overheat? Do I need to change the gearing?

There are those that use the Feigao in thier revo/maxx. I haven't used one in a MT truck so I won't comment on that part. If you can afford the Neu now it will be well worth it. I use the 1515 1y/s in my G3R on 4s and it is great. I have a lot of gearing options before I even have to break out the temp gauge. I don't think you will have that much gearing flexibility the Feigao motors. I got the smooth can I think the fins will limit the pinion size one or two teeth more then the smooth. But that's on the G3R with the G1 tranny. Don't have the E Revo to know how the motor and tranny meet up.

I would stay away from the Feigao as you will always have heat issues and by the time you add in the cost of an RC-M heatsink/clamp you could buy a Medusa that is much better quality and will run much cooler.

Mike was using a 36-60-2000 on his Revo, should be a good match for 4s, 5s, and even on 6s although personally I'd step down for 6s

I'd probably wait until the 70mm medusas arrive- soon hopefully. They will be comparible to Neu motors, but half the price. For wiring and gearing info, see BrianG's calculator:

What do you do about the holes in the Medusa's can though? I got a 50mm Medusa for my Rustler and I need to cover the holes up to keep the dirt out.

Use this to help you choose the right KV rating on your motor, it's got basically everything you need to know in it. I have the Tekno RC 1.5D and used to run it in an E-Revo and it ran like a scalded dog but it's an amp hog and thus drains your lipos faster and heats up faster than a lower KV setup. I plan to take the 1.5D and put it in an Ofna Hyper for street use, then get a 2.5D and run it on 5s/6s lipo and 7s A123. You have to aim for a KV that'll be battery-friendly as well as not heat up too badly but you also have to keep the weight of the batteries in mind, a 10S setup is probably not going to work too well in an E-Revo

Very Difficult, I want to buy a system fast beacause I can't drive at all now (motors are blown).

My nr 1 is a neu motor and 2nd is the medusa, both are unavailible :(

Email Mike, he can order the NEU for you. I run the 1515 1/y, great motor. Will eventually drop it into an E Revo myself.

The stators in the Neus are hand-wound, so production on them is a little slow. Usually you'll find places like ImpaktRC and RC-Monster that have them in stock for a month or two, then are out of stock for at least another month or two while they wait for more stock to come in. If you want a motor now, a Feigao will work but they are not great motors.

With my set-up in my sig on 8000 mah lipos I get close to and hour and 15 minutes on a full charge before LVC kicks in.
