Help Needed with balancer connectors before I loose it. - 10.30.2008, 11:23 PM

Frustration level is really high right now. Why don't they just make one damn connector for the balancing taps? With the shit load of connectors I got sitting in from of me and two different conversion boards I still can't connect my 4s Flightpower or 4s zippy to my LBA10 balancer.

I have the balancing taps that work with my 2s and 3s not problem there.

I have this conversion board that has the connectors that the balancing taps from both of the 4s (FP and Zippy) batteries fit into. I need a connector from that board to the LBA10 for 4s. I've searched and have just found too damn many adapters out there with all kinds of different names. I have no idea which one is the right one. Could someone please link me to the correct adapter I need. Please don't send me to a page of adapters. It would be funny to me later but not right now. Here's the adapter I got from RCM. I need a connector so I can balance 4s lipos with the LBA10.

MANY, MANY, Thanks.

Sorry about all the arrows. Helped me calm down and get it right in my head.

Thanks. I really do appreciate the link. What I am really looking for is a connector that will work with the board I bought from RCM. Both the batteries taps fit that board. I just don't have a way to connect it to the LBA10. If someone knows how to make the connector I need. I will pay for it and your time to do it for me.

Personally I think this would be the way to go http://maxamps.com/proddetail.php?pr...ULTI-TP&cat=34 For what you'll pay in shipping and materials for someone to make what you need you could prolly just get this and know its 100% right

Thanks for the help guys. After a couple beverages, looking at the diagrams that came with the LBA10 and some testing with the multimeter I came up with and adapter to make the board that I got from RCM to work with the LBA10. I only wired the adapter up for 4s but that's the largest Lipo I got so it should do the trick for now. Will be able to use the board for all my lipos now.

Now that I think about it though. How am I going to charge 2 2s lipos at the same time using the LBA10? Hell with it. I am done..... I'll just keep doing it the same way I have for the past year without the LBA10.

If you want to balance charge two lipos at the same time, you need two LBA10's and the hyperion network cable. IF you decide to go this route, let me know - I have the set up NIB. I was going to ask, since you live so close, why not take a spin over to MaxAmps and see if they can hook you up with a common adaptor to use with all of your different packs? I think all you might have to do is switch the plastic piece. They also carry the cable you were looking for.
I ordered individual Hyperion adaptors for each brand of pack, so they all came with wires.
My Brother in law bought his locally, and it didnt come with a connector wire....not sure why they sell them that way.

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

I didn't balance my FP 4s 3700 for a year due to this problem. Now i got some True RC 4s 8000 with a new tap I said f*&@ it! Hooked up the deans and let it charge. 3.5a is all my charger can muster anyways. And with the True rc 4s 8ah lipo config you can't balance all 8 cells anyways with a 4 cell tap.

If you need an adapter to charge and balance 2 2s lipos in series let me know. I should be able to make one for you. You would have to let me know what type of balance tap your packs use.

Buy a balancer, and make sure it is a charge thru design. Well worth 40 bucks, plus it makes the charge process much safer. Looks like I need to do a write up on balancers and adapters...

Your zippy battery uses align style taps. So you would buy this for it: http://maxamps.com/proddetail.php?pr...I-ALIGN&cat=34

The flightpower pack uses thunder power style taps so this would work: http://maxamps.com/proddetail.php?pr...ULTI-TP&cat=34

I have been thru the same thing you have and understand the frustration. I personally like to stick to hyperion style taps, but have batteries with align, tp, and kokam taps on them. I bought all 4 boards and must have at least 3 of the hyperion boards too. I have 7 chargers so I needed a few! Let me know if you want the adapter for the 2s packs...

Thanks for the help. Too many of them suckers out there. Found the align style for the zippy will fit in the same connector as the TrueRC and Maxamps do on the conversion board.

Linc.... I sent you a PM about the connector and another lipo problem.

Thanks Jeff. I thought about taking a drive out there and seeing them. Mainly because what you were talking about the boards not coming with the cables needed. That just add to the pia this is.

Oh yeah, a special thank also has to go to BL_RVO that sent me the link to 4 different boards that should work. Even when I asked Please don't give me a link to a page full of different ones. One of the main reason I got so frustrated to begin with. You inspired me to say the hell with it and try and figure it out with what I had.

HAHAHAHA, funny huh? I could see the taps in the pic you had, and knew that the zippys use align taps. It is very frustrating to have to figure out the balancer issue, this is why lipo has a very steep learning curve....

This harness joins the hyperion balancer to the hyperion adapter boards, so I guess it will fit your board. It's 5cm longer than the harness that comes with the charger, but I can't see the standard one listed on that site. http://www.allerc.com/product_info.php?products_id=3704

This page list which balance plugs different batteries use. Looks like you don't need it now, but it might be useful later. http://www.rcaccessory.com/pdf/Batte...on%20Guide.pdf

What batteries do you want to charge at the same time.
