NeuEnergy 5500 vs Polyquest 6000 - 11.03.2008, 08:33 PM

I'm comparing these two lipos:

Neu - 6s 25c (137.5 amp) 5500 at $199
Weight = 794

OR

PolyQuest - 5S 25C (150 amp) 6000 at $259.99
Weight = 788

Size for both doesn't matter since they both will fit.

My setup?
XT8
Neu 1700KV
Quark AND MGM (currently running the Quark while my MGM is getting the firmware update)

Which would you buy? Is the PolyQuest worth $60 more? it seems all I'm getting is 500 more Mah but less volts. With the Neu 6s I will get more top speed.

I currently have the PolyQuest 5S 6000 20C that I got in Jan of this year, and those are still working great.

I run the truck on a local track we built, nothing official but mostly I'm on the track vs bashing.

Let put it this way. Both enerland cell if my memory is right.

The neu energy have 122.1 watt/hour of energy reserve and are able to sustain a draw of 3052.5 watts hours

The polyquest have 111 watt/hour of energy reserve and can sustain 2775 watts hour.

The neu pack cost 1.63$ per watt hour while the polyquest cost 2.34$ per watt hour. Seem like the Neu pack win out

Shouldn't you also consider the Neu 30C packs - they fall at the same pricing as the polyquest.

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

this helps. I have been so happy with polyquest I just wasn't sure if neu was as good.

I have considered the 30c but I was not sure how much run time I would loose from 6000 to 5000 mah.

How do you know this for sure?

Get the Neu... voltage is your friend.

Simple math. The battery can sustain 25c which mean 25x their amp rating.

Total capacity(watt) is a product of volt x amps/hour.

So for the neu energy it's: 6X3.7v(6s) X 5.5 amps or 122.1

For the polyquest it's: 5X3.7(5s) X 6.0 amps or 111

Multiply this rating by 25(25c discharge rate or the ability to discharge the battery in 1/25 of an hour without damage) for obtain what each battery can sustain.

That mean 3052.5 watts for the neu and 2775 for the polyquest.

And if you gear for the same speed, you may even get longer run time with the higher voltage (lower capacity) set up.
