Anyone use the SB989 charger and LBA10 balancer together?

HELP!!!!!!
I'm trying to set up my B'In Laws 989 and LBA10, with his Zippy 4S packs. I measured the voltage at 15.17 prior to putting them on the charger. I followed the instructions here, but we cant seem to get the balancer off of A123 mode.
It lights up, and initially it only shows three cells (if the lights at the beginning are indicating this?). Then it starts discharging one of the cells. I also get the ERR B L when pressing start.
So my first challenge is to get it off of A123 mode. Pressing the mode button only results in momentary changes from A123, and it goes back to it. Any ideas?

ON EDIT: I think I got it figured out - sometimes electronics respond well to just pushing buttons and plugging things in randomly.....LOL!
