Got my MMM combo ! Question ? - 12.12.2008, 03:32 AM

YES ! at 8:15pm tonight the MMM combo was delivered too my door , by 9:00 it was installed .

The setup went off without a hitch and soon I was doing standing backflips in my living room !

All is right in the world ......

One question .....

The motor is pretty hard too turn over , almost feels like a brushed motor .

Is this normal ? The gear mesh is fine and there is no binding in the drivetrain , but it doesnt roll really smooth ?

Perfectly normal. My 2200 does the same thing. Neu magnets are very strong.

What does it mean if I can spin my motor shaft by hand?

You should be able to spin it by hand. It is just kind of hard to do.

What pitch is the included pinion? It looks too small to be a mod1 compared to my RCM 18T mod1 pinion.

Neus are harder to turn because they are slotted stator. The magnetic field is more focused over a smaller area, so you feel each detent. Feigaos are not slotted ("air core") so the magnetic field is more widespread and not as focused, so you don't feel the detent not nearly as much.

Guys , I am soooooo diggin this truck now , every time I drive it I am more impressed !

Another question , is there a gearing chart for the E REVO using the MMM combo ?

Would 22/64 be too much for it on 4s ? I am running the included pinion 18/68 and the system barely gets warm .

I just tested mine in my E-Slayer and it rocks. Its tighter than a new Tekno Neu 1515/1y and no cogging. Its very cold her so no temp issues.

Post Pinion with MMM/2200 combo & gearing info. - 12.18.2008, 12:48 PM

phatmonk:

The Monster/2200Kv combo includes an 18 tooth, 32 pitch/metric .8 mod pinion gear. In a beautiful green tint of course This is perfect for Traxxas E-maxx's and E-Revo's.

BashemSmashem:

At this time we don't have a gearing chart for the Monster. It is in the works but will be a little while before we have anything concrete. The 22/64 might be a bit much, you may want to stick with the 68 spur with that pinion. You'll also need some good batteries to keep up with the amp draw and the motor will run a bit warmer; Just keep an eye on temps and if the motor stays below 170-180° F, you're good to go. You just might be purchasing more A-arms or bulkheads than before, because it's sure going to be moving with that gearing.

Thanks Thomas , I put on the 22/65 gearing and after 10 minutes the motor was just warm , didnt temp it but it couldnt have been more than 100 .

I am using 2s 4500mAh 22c/40c burst LiPo's , are they good enough ?

Speed is very good and it still pulls wheelies past 1/2 throttle

I cant wait for summer too come back around so I can pick on my nitro friends REVO's .

IIRC, I think RCMonster has Mod1 pinions.
