i got my 1515 from fine deisgn and it was here in 4 days! hackers are very good motors. the shafts are made way better than the neus are they are hardend you know how the pinion gear makes a ring mark on a neu shaft? not on a hacker.

Hacker shafts are hardened, that is for sure. I guess it is better, but harder does mean more brittle...
Especially if you get a hacker without a flat spot. And if your wife asks, say you're having trouble with your new hardened shaft!

I generally use the bench grinder to produce a flat area, so material is not really a concern. The harder steel does take a few passes to get to the desired depth...
