I will bring my radar gun that day in case any of you guys want to clock your cars. I clocked my cars a few weekends ago on the grass and didn't get the insane speeds I hear so much about brushless setups. I think it could be me just gearing really low to start with on these cars.

Losi 8ight T
Tekno RC conversion kit
Mama Monster Max v3
NEU 1515 1y (2200kv)
NEU 4s 5000 MAH Lipo
13/48 gearing
Temps were 120 for ESC, 120 for motor and about 110 for battery after 20 mins on running a track. This car clocked in at 34mph consistently on grass (does wheelies).

Losi 8ight B
Tekno RC conversion kit
Mamba Monster Max v3
NEU 1512 1.5d (2050kv)
NEU 4s 5000 MAH Lipo
14/48 gearin
Temps were 110's across the board after about 20 mins of running on a track. The car clocked in at about 33mph consistently on the grass.

EMaxx
Mamaba Monster Max v3
NEU 1515 1.5d (2700kv)
NEU 4s 5000 MAH Lipo
17/68 gearing
Temps were 110's across the board after about 20 mins of running on a track. The truck does somersaults on dirt! Does back flips when I punch throttle at like half speed. I clocked this guy in at 35mph on the grass.

All cars although reliable are not registering these 50-60mph speeds I hear about. Are these guys with these kinds of speed only doing quick speed passes with insane gearing?

If they are all doing mid 30's on grass/dirt does that mean they are geared correctly? I heard gearing correctly should yield 40mph on asphalt right? Any comments would be appreciated.

14 months and 22 cars and 2 helis later.....

You need to gear down to keep the temps right in the grass. 110-120 are excellent temps in the grass, actually. I ran my Revo (with 3905 E-Maxx tranny) @ 22/62 on 4s lipo with the 1515 1.5D and it ran very well on dirt and onroad it was a bit mad. 17/68 is way undergeared for onroad performance.

For higher speed, you also need more voltage. 4s is good for 40-45 top speed, 6s should put you past 60.

EDIT: If you want to run the E-Maxx onroad, 24/58 should be OK with that motor but watch your temps.

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.
