I would use 5000maH 30C-40C rated Lipos or 6s2p A123...

I like to run my rustler around 800 watts because it is almost a pound lighter but I have a 2000 watt setup that is crazy fast. I find that it best when manufactures define the hardware limits accurately so I can compare and contrast. I feel better pushing 2000 watts when I know the manufacturer rates the hardware beyond 3000 watts...
