Guys I'm about to move up to the 1/8th scale buggy class racing. Going with the new R2...how does this setup look??? Am I missing something?? Going with a 1512 1Y and MMM ESC on twin 2S's in parallel.

I don't know much about buggys, but isn't everyone using something like 4-5s lipos on them? 2s lipos with 2750kv might have a less torque? Personally I would put some lighter kv motor, more voltage and gear it down.. But again I don't have a buggy :D
Its to keep the weight down. Also I'm only trying to go 40mph....not 60 like most. Also buggies are VERY light so running higher KV motors and lower voltage is not as bad.
I figured since it was so much lighter, it shouldn't need such a large motor and lots of voltage. Heck 3S on a 1512 1y on my buggies truggy is stupid fast and runs 35-40mph and runs cool. The buggy is another 1-2lbs lighter.
go with a 1512 2.5d on 4s or 5s and gear for 40 and youll be golden...
or atleast go 4s on that 1512 1y and gear down for 40...... your gonna have a HOT motor and puffed lipos if you try to put a little 1512 only spinning 20,000 rpm in a 7.5-8 pound buggy and gear it for 40mph.... it just dont work like that.....
A 1512 will be fine. I would go with 5-6s and smaller packs. I run a 1600kv medusa 60mm (similar to a 1512) in a hyper8 with 6s 2170 mah 25c fp lipos. It is well under 8lbs with batts and the body. Runs great too!

What kind of run time??? Our A-mains are 30 mins......will it make that kind of main??
