Yea, they way I understand it the Hyper 9 is using a 40T spur gear on the center diff. Makes it easier to get the diff that low for lining up with the 43T front/rear diffs.

A top plate ould take alot of the available "twist" out of the chassis. that twist is important for traction. Although, they do it in 1/10 so it would probably mean going thinner on the bottom chassis plate to get some of the flex back. I think the thicker single plate is probably thougher in the long run. For sure wouldnt want the electric 1/8 stuff to turn into big fragile 1/10 style cars. I acually think that this hyper 9 layout is the closest Ive seen to ideal so far.

The only reason I think they put the ESC up top like that was becasue they were using a gigantuous hobbywing esc and there just wasnt quite enough room down low on the main plate for that big sucker.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Why don't they just show it already!? Pictures and info about is available all over the net, and the one is even on ebay already - that one is really tempting me, but I shouldn't. I still need to finish my ST Pro.

You're right: some flex is good. Maybe a turnbuckle-style brace above the center drive-shaft to allow twisting but limit bending.

Wonder if an MMM would fit under the servo plate.

good to see. according to there forum the U.S ones wont be here till May. I am tempted to buy one from ebay but since the tekin esc is not here yet I guess I can wait.

Surprised to see the mini is ready to ship though.

Also I believe you are right about the spur. The nitro uses a 40t so I would assume the electric probably does too. Would be great if we could get the slipper in there too. :)

Kyosho SC, tekin rs, D3 17.5
Hyper 9e, mmp,tekin 1900kv
