Electronic differential? Maybe? - 04.24.2009, 08:17 PM

I thought I'd ask here in hopes of catching the electronics experts.

I would love to do a dual motor to diff direct drive setup like others have done before. My hold up has always been the lack of differential action. It doesn't seem difficult (to my feeble mind) to develop an electronic diff if you will. Something that will mix and proportion signals to two separate controllers. How hard would something like this be to achieve? May not be enough market for Castle to produce, but maybe? If not, how difficult would it be to whip something up on my own? The programming would be a bitch, I'm sure.

A while back I touched on this subject:

Seems like it's pretty similar to what you're thinking.

could work...
you'd need castle ESC's so u could program it...

you could link up a V tail mixer for steering and throttle signals...and put a Y harness for the ESC's.

that would let all the channels mix and when you turn..one wheel would power down while the other would power up.

could work

E-revo 3.3 conversion, 249kv outrunner, 6s, MMM
the porthole from the noob world an here has been opened!! that's how i got in.
