Sounds like a big cost without much benefit...

Any chance a lst diff would fit (hahahaha)?

I am thinking the stock savvy diffs/pinion with the flm case/bulk combo would be preferable. I plan to do this with the big 5th scale savage build. Seems like a properly shimmed 13/43 diff in a solid al case that will not flex will be the ticket. Plus the cases are 60 bucks each, so they are not that much more expensive than the Cen diffs.

They are 6061-T6 and have the easy access feature that FLM's lack. I have been using them with my Cen diffs and they are very well made.

Your gonna need something pretty strong in the 1/5 your building. You think the savage 13t bevel will handle it?

I've never has a lst diff in my hands before so I am not sure it they would fit. You are probably joking but not sure. If I had some I would try them if they are stronger. The weak part of the savage xl diffs are the 13t bevel gear. The alum differentials case/internals/ring gear are holding up. I did use a new older version of a bulk head the last time around. It may flex more then the quick access bulkhead version that I got in the mail yesterday. It is installed now with the strr differential gears.

I've looked at the FLM options and have considered that an option. Never seen the ones Electric El linked to. If flexing of the bulk is where the problem is then that seems to be another option and you could still use the savage gears. There pros and cons to both the flm and GS bulkheads which seem obvious. I just want something that is going to last longer then a couple of tanks.

The main reason I put the strr gears in was lack of replacement parts at the moment. Have another 13t ordered from a-main but that's a couple days out. I had the strr gears on hand and damit I want to run this rc! Should be interesting with the different gear ratio.

I thought you were having issues with the cen diff, whoops. And i was joking about the lst setup, as I doubt it would fit without major mods/fabricating.

I think the flm parts would be better then the GH stuff, and are cheaper too. I have no experience with either, so maybe someone who has tried both will chime in. 1/8 diffs are tough, and the machined hpi parts should be sturdy. I guess case flex is causing the issue. I should have some time this weekend to finish my savage and plan to take the diffs/bulks apart (they come assembled in the SS kit) and check everything.

The 1/5 scale will require some tough components. I will start with the hpi diff parts and upgrade if necessary.

I have both the FLM and the GH. Quality wise, they are the same. I had to send back an FLM for fitment problems. No problems with the GH ones so far. The good thing about the GH bulks is that they have the easy access feature so you don't have to rip your whole Savage apart to get to the diffs. They also will fit the new XL style larger diff cups, the FLM won't. GH also has a lifetime warranty and I have had great service from them in the past with my Baja 5B parts. The only problem is that they are made in Canada and you have to ship back there for warranty, but they do pay to ship it back to you.
