That is a pretty common problem with the Neus. I have smoked 3 of them like that. Even if the wires seem secure, they still can flex a little bit causing a couple of strands to fail and then the motor will eventually over heat. Neus are not designed for use in a car.
Neus are great motors, but this issue is a big problem with them for those that race a lot which is why I like the solder post better on the Tekin T8 motors. It would be great if Neu came out with a motor that had solder posts for the car guys.
