I used 2mm under the RCM motor mount and the XT8 diff mount in front with no shims, that was just enough. Xray part 354032 comes in real handy for raising the mount. Its basically 2 premade 1mm thick shims for under the motor mount.

I dont use the cf battery tray any more. The RCM tray wasnt really much heavier and it was just easier to use and more durable.

Well it is now finished!!

Some of my stuff took ages to get here and the delays on the RX8 systems did not help either

So what was bound to happen when you got a hobbyist waiting happened, I ordered some hop ups lol I got much of the tuning options, front and rear toe blocks, front caster blocks, front torque brace.

Final setup is T8 1900kv buggy motor with RX8 running on a 3300mAh 5S NeuEnergy pack. Using Mike's Slipperdiff I run a 15T pinion for now. Haven't got a chance to hit a track, but top speed seems good!! Motor and ESC barely get warm. After 5 minutes of full speed runs back and forth in a grass backyard I could keep my hand for ever on the motor and the RX8 only had one light on. Not a race situation but things are looking good!

I did some basic weight balance checks and all seemed good with my RX8 pushed in the back on the chassis. My batt is pretty light and the RX8 is lighter than the MMM with a pretty heavy T8...

Lovely build you have there. I always loved the 808.

One tip I would advise though is to not run the front torque brace until you have tried the stock plastic one!

The plastic one gives more flex and front end grip, making the car easier to drive when racing (and driving fast, which you will be - it's BL in an 808!). Fit the torque brace afterwards if you feel the set-up needs changing, but stock set-ups in Xrays always work well, so try it first.

I tried the Torque brace on the 808 and for some reason it wouldn't stay together. I kept popping the front/top ball out of the end of the brace. I actually like the way the brace felt when it was together, but I could never get it to stay together for an entire main. Once it pops, it gets VERY sloppy feeling.

The torque brace is supposed to more rigid front to back but less rigid on the chassis twist. it gave it a ton of front end grip entering corners (not like it really needed more) I just gave up and haven't had any issues with the stock brace. Car handles great.

Very nice build man. Top notch.

I would possibly look at moving the solder tabs on the motor to the top or inside though. Out there they just seem more exposed to possible damage. Probably fine though.

I bought the front brace as a tuning option so you guys are right and I will probably be using the stock one at first.

About the solders, I had them on the top at first but they would rub on my body and would take hits as well. On the inside the wires would be way too close to the rear drive shafts. That left me with the outside lol I'll try to think of a way to give them more protection, maybe put a bunch of shoo goo on the body next to the solders. Sounds good?
