If you go with Baja wheels and tires Hostile makes some very good ones. If you're not a patient person I'd pay someone to put them on for you though! I'm in the process of installing my new Nightmare MXes for my Baja and I'm taking a stress break because they're such a PITA (Hard compound doesn't help at all!)

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

so i got this new 4mm blue carbon today. it is 4mm 1k fineweave which is super tough and an outer layer of blue texalium on each side. texalium is an aluminum cloth and the stuff used for fishing rods and other sports equip.

i got this stuff cuz it became apparent that i had to move the front chassis brace to the right side of the drive shaft so the motor mount could sit where it needs to. since i had to move the chassis brace i decided to make a new front top plate. and i most likely will have to make a new center top plate if i go with the mech. brakes off the center diff outdrives. so this blue carbon should be tuff enough and looks cool too.

bluecarbon3

you can see in this pic where i had to take off the chassis brace. so the new top plate will just mount the brace to the other side.

Looks very nice... Damn that carbon must have been pricey. Sorry if I missed this, but what esc are you going to use.

Cant you just flip front top plate upsidedown? And use different bolts or countersunk washers? Wouldnt it fit then?
So that front brace mounting hole goes to right side of chassis?

that could be done but it wouldnt be very clean. all the holes on the top plate are countersunk so flipping it over would put the countersink on the wrong side.

the carbon setup is going to work beautifully and look stellar too. i actually should have the carbon parts done today. i will post pics soon.

just got my pinion gears today. just waiting on spur gear.

the castle hydra 240hv comes next week.

Thats unfortunate. I've always had great luck with rampagehopups.com

You don't need adapters. The Rampge axles are the same diameter at Baja axles. You just need to buy (4) Baja rear hexes. I'm running the Dark Soul extended rears.

i know the brakes can fit. its being able to mount them that is the issue. the AMS brakes have 2 screws that mount right up to the hubs/spindles....at least that is what it looks like in pics that i can see. with the rampage there just isnt anywhere to mount the calipers without doing some custom work.

idk for sure without seeing all the parts in person what i could do though. do you have a 5b also? or just the rampage.

btw, check out all these parts i picked up on ebay from the same guy selling that 5b brushless i posted. i will end up selling alot of it but there were some items that i wanted that i havent been able to find anywhere on the 1/5 sites.

Daves Motors (DDM, davesmotors.com) is pretty much THE place for large scale stuff. Them and TGN have just about everything you could want.

These are the tires I just installed, they're pricey but well worth it. You can go with ProLine 40 series, but they are a ton thinner than these and you'll most likely tear the tire before you wear it out. These things last forever and you won't tear them.
