I bought a Traxxas 2.4 combo from a buddy and installed it in my Mini E-revo and I have to say besides the parameters not be as adjustable like my X3S It's worth the $50.00 I paid for it. Works great.

From tower it`s $120 & you could buy a Tatic 2.4 for $ 80.You could also pay $70 more & get a Futaba 3PM FASSt that has more features that you need

For my application It's just fine, I leave the TX and Mini E-Revo in my Jeep 24/7 and didn't want to spend anymore $$ than I had too. I have a X3S for my other 10 trucks.
