i would get a KB45 motor before i'd get the hobbywing motor. the 30mm bolt pattern is the only real downside. grinding the shaft down to 5mm is very easy with a dremel. i had a custom motor mount made for my savage to use KB motors. i only managed to get a 10 min test run on 3s with my 1400kv L sized KB motor until my esc died. the motor temped at 115F after going full throttle (which was about 15mph) for most of the run.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

I actually like the HW motors. The end-bells are removeable and held in with screws that are more secure than the pressed-in end-bells of the Feigao/KD/KB motors. If you keep rpms below 40k, you should be fine.

Sorry new to this and not sure what the KB motors are ? [full name].
I am only going to be running 14.8v on it so it will only be doing 29 to 30,000rpm's. Its for a caster converted zx-1 nitro buggy with a 13/46 pinion and spure.

Hi, please avoid the KB motors. They are very inefficient. They heat up alot even with powerful fans. i run a KB45L 2300kv motor in my 4.7Kg truck geared to 35 - 40mph on 4S lipo and the motor will heat up to 60C within 5 min. Powerful but inefficient. And heat will demagnetise the motor rendering it useless. Go for better motors.

thats right, they get hot easyly. I think the quality is slightly better then the pink kd motors, as the rotor is balanced.
if you need such a big motor and you're on a budget, go for the feigao 580l. it measueres about 44x74 mm, has an 5mm axle. it's not a lehner, but at least better then a kb45. some people are quite happy with the kb45, I think that their quality really varies from average to very poor.

the feigao has some cooling-holes, just put a nylon mesh over it to keep the motor free from stones, dirt.
