Jammin Spur and Pinion? - 08.04.2009, 12:04 AM

So I have the 5mm bore pinion but the spur for my Jammin X1-CR must be a different pitch. I believe its a mod1 pinion but may be a .8.

But even with a set screw on each end of the pinion it gets flung off immediately and there are drastic wear marks on the pinion.

So what gives lol? Which one am I really needing so I can make sure I get this right the second time.

thanks for ur help!

Mod 1 and mod .8 are very different, you'd be able to see it. The spur almost has to be mod1, your pinion could be the problem. What brand is it? An RCM hardened pinion wouldn't break, but it might eat your spur if something is wrong with that... Make sure your mesh is right. Is your mount/chassis bent? Make sure both gears are parallel. Do you have pics?

I've seen set screw threads not go far enough through to the center of the pinion. Take the pinion off the motor. Thread the set screw through the pinion to see if it is getting hung up before it tightens on the shaft of your motor. Also do you have a flat spot on your motor shaft?

50c that you are using the pinion that came with the MMM combo from castle.

That is a .8 pinion for a e-revo/e-maxx - you need a mod 1 pinion from the RCM store.

Its for sure a rc-monster pinion. I bought it way back when the first came out so I can't recall what pitch it is, guess i'll order another mod1 and see what happens

Almost all 1/8th scales are going to be Mod1.

I had the Jammin X1-CR and CRT and both were Mod1 for sure.
