Need help with E-LST2 gearing... - 08.26.2009, 09:00 PM

I'm just finishing up on an LST2 conversion and need a bit of help with the gearing. I'm running a CC2200kv/MMM combo with a 6s 5000mah 30C lipo. The spur is a 63t. I also have the TD collet hub and the Losi FOC. What would be a good pinion to start with? I'm not looking for absolute top speed, just a good ratio for bashing and showing up some nitros. Thanks for any help!!

Here's a quick pic.

Use this handy dandy tool to figure out your top speed, gear fpr 40mph.

I have the same setup geared for 50. Don't remember my exact gears right now but that's where I am at and everything runs cool. I am using the TDR colleted pinion adapter on mine along with the TDR motor mount.

Duder Rocks.
Don't forget your RPM shims for the C-hub Right Front.
Nice LST2 BTW.

I'm still messing with my LST... It's got an 2-Speed. The motor (Plettenberg Bigmaxximum) stays cool like a fridge. But my ESC (Quark Airmaster 125B with externel BEC) gets hot like fire after 10 minutes... :( I'm running stock gears, so 18/70 and 25/63. And last time I mainly ran in 1st gear, so why does my ESC get so damn hot? :S

Sorry for the off-topic a bit, but this will maybe also help you to decide for a good gearing. The Bigmaxx has 2300kv, so its like a Mamba 2200kv...

I'd say 15 or 16. I ran my LST2 with stock gearing, 18/25, on 5S with a Neu 1515/1Y

I just made more or less the same conversion, but on an Aftershock. I am also using the TD motormount, but still the 2 speed stock gearing, which is 63 spur and 25 pinion. I haven´t fully tested it, but seems to run pretty good.

What will I need to run single gear. Is it only the single speed hub from TD?

Thanks alot for the help. Can anyone explain or point me to a good article about rollout? I used the speed calculator link above (thanks Bondonutz!), and it says a 22t will be 1:1 rollout. I'm not realy sure what this means. Also, the tires are 40 series big joes.

jas21373, nice rig!

Klausen, all you need for the single speed is the TDR hub. It is a direct bolt-on.

Super thanks. What kind of spur do you use?
