brakes with mediocre batts is just as bad!! the brakes are regenerative and hence they pump electricity back into the bats...and pretty fast too!! and if your batts cant take it...the monster trys to..and it wasn't made to do that.
you should not run 3s (unless of coarse ive miss-understood you totaly and you are running 2x 3s in series to make 6s) on a CC monster ESC in any kind of 1/8th application IMO.

am i by chance making a big silly mistake and you are actually using 2x 3s packs in series??....cause that'd make me look silly
