I used one before. Very good controller as long as you stay below 3000kv and 5S. Heatsinking and casing on the 1/8 ESC is topnotch. You can hook it up to a pc and play with settings. The motors are good too, but like mentioned before, the endbells needs to be looked after. Nothing a RC-Monster heatsink/clamp can't fix.
But the startup is not as smooth as the Tekin, Castle or Quark.

Here's a vid of the 1/8 Losi ESC in action

hey,

I've written a short report about the motor here in the forum. I asked that question myself. I think one reason why almost nobody has the 1/8 losi electronics is the bad reputation of the 1/10 stuff, which seems to be crap.
here in europe there is no support as well.

and people don't buy stuff, wich is not sold that much. because they think it's worth nothing. so they again buy mmm sets...

I have that motor (1700kv) on 5s, and I think it's great stuff. Bearing is not that excellent, but a very common size (8/5/16), so no problem to replace it after a while. the kevlar wrapping of the magnet can get damaged by dirt, so u should seal the unused holes of the front endbell. the rotor is well balanced, very thick shaft. and yes, the screws of the endbells should be replaced. nevertheless, a great motor, well built, plenty of torque. especially when you try a bit longer gearing, you can see the motor's potential and power. you have to test different timing-settings, I experienced cogging with 1deg, 7 deg. was ideal. As the diameter is bigger then normal motors, usual heatsinks don't fit. so I have a fan.

here in europe the motors are cheaper then in the us, when I see the prices on ebay in the us, I think that's too expensive.

regarding the esc, I think it's a big stupid idea to design a esc for max 5s. on the other hand, you have a programming card, a usb-cable, and there are regular firmware-updates. it also looks and feels very solid.

losi made some big mistakes, at least in germany. no support, no marketing. and then, the esc was sold out and not available all over germany for months, and is probably still not available yet.
