The ESC bolts onto the back of the battery tray. All one piece. Makes for easy removel for cleaning/maintenance. 4 screws hold the steering/rx/transponder plate(plus 1 screw for the steering linkage). 2 screws to loosen the motor from the motor mount(or 4 screws to remove the whole center diff assembly). 5 screws for the battery tray and all the electronics can be removed without unplugging or unsoldering anything. The entire "power pod" can be removed in about 1 minute(maybe 2 or 3 if you take your time).
The battery tray has quite a bit of machining on the top and bottom, actually - starts out as a 1 pound, 4oz piece of plastic and ends up to be 3oz total weight when complete. :)
