burned out my vxl motor? -
10.04.2009, 09:18 PM
Hey, I was at a parking lot today just bashing w/my rustler, and on the last jump it landed hard on the rear (motor side) and now the motor won't work. The speed control still sends a signal but the motor does not run at all. I took it apart at home and nothing is broken inside the motor can and the armature is in one whole piece.
When I spin the motor shaft by hand, it spins very freely, unlike my castle motor that has notchy resistance if spun by hand. Is the motor broken somehow?

Check your solder connections and any broken wires in the motor. Also it doesn't matter if the VXL motor spins freely; it's designed to spin freely.

Can you try that ESC with the Traxxas motor, or try the Traxxas motor on a different ESC? Chances are it's the ESC, 'cuz if it were the motor there should at least be 2 phases firing (which would result in horrid cogging).

It all works now...btw Unsullied, I was the guy who bought your mamba max esc on ebay a couple months back, never used it yet until the other day when I tested the vxl motor on it. It proved that the problem was with the vxl esc because the motor worked with the mm. So I took the vxl esc apart, and it looked okay, put it back together, then just for the heck of it I put it back in my rustler and to my amazement worked again. So no loss here I am happy to report!
