I have a Creative Labs 2.1 system on my desk, and know a few people with the same one as I do. They are not the loudest, but they do produce crisp, clean sound, especially with a bit of playing around with the EQ

The current model 2.1 system, of good quality for a budget price

Of the reviews of the A200 system that I have read, most of them say there is too much bass. Simple fix. when in iTunes, open the built in equalizer and click the bass reducer preset. that takes care of that.

I don't have much experience with Altec Lansing, but from what I hear, they also make some pretty good stuff

Of course, If you did want to go all out, or want to thank me for helping out, Bose is the way to go IMO.
