They redesigned the plugs intentionally so people wouldn't mess up the using the older PSU's on the newer systems and vice versa. Otherwise, real good chance of frying your system completely. Leave it alone.

Hmmm, would I need a new power supply with it being a different xbox....this has the newer internals so would that mean more power needed meaning new power supply?

That would be the new cord....

The power cord from the outlet -> power supply is a regular computer cord.

but the power supply -> xbox is one full cord.
If that makes sense.
