I can make custom length aluminum drive shafts - will have to get a system in place here for efficiency, though.

With RCalloys gone we could really use the help Mike. Granted the need for custom drive shafts is not one of those gold rush factors in R/C, but with the type of builds that allot of us do with these vehicles we would be lost without a solid supplier of good quality shafts to depend on. Plus most of what any of us can find in stock or aftermarket replacements is hardly durable. Having a solid set of driveshafts can elliminate the worries of having a weak spot in our drivetrain that can result in set after set of replacement shafts. Thanks for the offer to fill the gap MM.

Will aluminum be strong enough? I wonder if 7075 would work best because its harder stronger material.

I'll make a cardboard cutout once I get home from work(it's 1:00 in the afternoon here in Japan) and post some pics about this idea of mine. The aluminum plate will be 3mm thick (aircraft grade 6061T6 aluminum) and I think it will be robust enough to hold the cd in place.
I am thinking the same thing but with 3mm carbon fiber plate.

That would be awesome Mike! I think that I found a way to mount the CD using the stock bottom plate. It only requires a little chainsaw action on the servo plate. Should be all good once I get the Slipperential and driveshafts.
