Hobbyking esc really weird problem? - 03.31.2010, 10:58 PM

I have a hobbyking esc 150a(the one they sell on their site only). When i program it with the hobbywing program card the settings save as usual.Though randomly after every few runs the setting chage back to the default settings.(i realise this when the savage starts wheeling uncontrollably).
Anyone know why this is and how i can prevent it?

ESCs can reste themselves sometimes after big heavy jump with bad landing. Try to add some dampening material between your ESC and you ESC plate, it cans help !

Really? Solid-state memory is supposed to have extreme resistance to shock/g-forces (into the hundreds and even thousands of G's).

Then maybe they take more than thousand Gs ?
ESCs don't like shocks, protect it and it wont be a problem any more...

yeah, I would suspect electrical shock more than mechanical. If there are large braking spikes, they can create "noise" that may reset the memory.

its just a really big problem with the lipo colatge cut off. When i go to charge the lipo the cells are between 2.80-2.90,since when i set it at 3.2 or 3.4V cut off it resets to 3.0V .

The HK 150A ESC is made by ZTW, which is a different company and thus isn't the same firmware or programming as the Hobbywing ESCs. That may be your problem. HK started carrying the ZTW/HK 150A specific program card not long ago, so if you don't have that, you might want to pick it up. The items are completely different between the ZTW/HK program card and the HW program cards.

Maybe using a MMM will solve the problem! Sorry but you get what you pay for

RC-Monster RC8T 1515 2.5D/MMM/5s RC-M 4500mah
SC10 MMPro 13.5T 2s NeuEnery 5000mah
RC18T Mamba 25/5400kv 2s lipo + 6s NiMh

Let us not forget that for the majority of users, for the first two iterations of the MMM at least, getting what you paid for meant random fires, dodgy cases, BEC failures...

I've not had a single fault with any of the cheap ESCs I've picked up over the years. I've blown 2 hobbywing 80a escs, one from over amping it in a speed run truck and the other taking a direct hit at a skatepark and cracking the PCB.
