You can run the 8mm CVDs in the 15mm knuckles with the use of 8x15x5 bearings. They are a little bit difficult to find, but they are out there...and you can run them until you find a set of 16mm knuckles. Or, some people have successfully milled the knuckles to 16mm, so if you have a local machine shop, you could go that route. Maybe Mike might do it for you, as I am sure he can do it right.

VXB.com sells 8x15x5 bearings, but they are $9.95 each...almost $80 for the 8 bearings you need.

You could also sleeve an Avid RC 8x14x5 bearing to make it fit in the 15mm hole, and those are only $1 each!

No, I have not gotten the chassis...

So, you actually know this guy, and have personally seen the chassis in real life?

Yes I saw in on Ebay and noticed he was local so called him up so I could see it in person. Like I said the overall chassis looked good but where the skids bolted into the VBS didn't look that good. I am just getting back into the hobby and wanted to see a VBS in person.

pictures - 05.26.2010, 10:22 AM

Here are a couple pictures of the emaxx and the Dace T-maxx with racerx suspension. The Emaxx also has the UE servo saver and 6mm UE cvds installed in it. The Lightning chassis is in great shape, but the braces have a few nicks and scratches from use. Overall condition is excellent.
The T-maxx has a UE fwd-only installed and has the original Racer-X suspension(15mm bearings) and UE shock set. The truck is in great shape, but has dirt on it from about 5 years ago(ythe last time it was raced), so it will need some clean-up. :)

Mike I'd buy any low profile towers you have for 100 bucks, since you said you like low towers, as I do.

Pretty sure I have a new pair of 7075 low profile shock towers here (Nova RC Hybrid towers that were initially developed for the Ofna dominator with the Prolin maxx suspension kit, which I also have). :)

Its funny how these things never seem to go out of style. Even though they are now in the catigory of nostalgic they are still in demand. Someone's going to get lucky.

You have an OFNA Dominator With proline bulks? WOW if I didn't have the HCR Mutant truggy maxx I'd want to see it and maybe buy if you were to sell. But you haven't said that and like I said I have a Mutant.

That sounds promising about the towers. Can we see more pictures? Do you have a few different kinds? I know Duh Engineering made a low profile set also out of titanium, GMaxx had a set, and two other companies I can't recall.

Yes, I have an Ofna dominator with Proline bulks, aluminum Center diff and rear brake setup. I also has the Nova towers, UE shocks and racer x suspension(could be mixed UE/Integy, but I have "borrowed" parts from it) it also has a titanium extended chassis on it - it was my truggy before truggies existed. I probably have a Gmaxx tower set around as well as a Duh Engineering set if I looked real hard(Iknow I had a set at one time, but don't remember what happened to them). I have a set of Nova towers brand new - still in the bubble wrap, though. :)
