Why did you decide to go with mechanical brakes, and not the ESC/Motor brakes?

My original plan was to run 6s with a MMM or RX8. So I planned on using the mechanical brakes just to take the load off of the ESC, since this is going to be a relatively heavy truck (I'm guessing around 17-18lbs rtr).

But now I'm planning on running 8s (or 10s) with a boat controller that has no brakes - so mechanical brakes it is.
