I'd suggest swapping out your spur at least to a 90 for lower gearing options. It gets kinda tough gearing super low, but the bigger spur will help some. I think you should be fine with a 15 or 16/90 setup. I'm sure the esc will handle it no sweat, motor may get hot, but probably not too bad. I don't think I could bring myself to bash that body, it looks great. Despite all the poor opinions on castle's motors, mine's (6900 in rustler) held up just fine after being subjected to nasty things repeatedly. Both esc and motor has seen 200+ degrees on a few occasions. You've got options with that setup for more low end or high end if you want it via gearing or more cells or both. I would opt for a mamba pro if I could do it all over again, if you like to creep around a bit and climb over stuff, sensored is the way to go for smooth transitions. My stampede currently houses a cheapy sensored AE esc and an old novak 13.5. Temps are always cool and the power is enough for what I want to use it for. Well, I would rather have my 10.5 X-11, but that didn't hold up to well with the rough ridin. I think the mamba motors are durable enough to take stampede abuse.

I have a 90 tooth spur at the moment, bought a whole bunch of different spurs and pinions to fool around with. With the 18/86 combo my motor was only getting up to 130 and the esc was barely warm. Batteries didn't even have a slight difference in temp though...which is a good thing...lol. I just have this truck to bash around with but nothing too extreme. We have a big grass field behind our complex, that is where we mostly play with our trucks. I am pretty happy with how the truck is running, it is fast but not crazy uncontrollable fast. I just bought a 3s pack from HobbyKing and it seems a bit too much for this truck, always seems to be puttin it on its lid so I will have to mess around with the gearing more. I just picked up a rustler since it was cheap so that will be another project that I will be working on, might try and go with the velineon combo for this one.....well have to see what comes into play. Thanks for the info though, always good to hear what everyone suggests.
