OMG, These have nothing to do with the bearings.

Look at the old carriers you removed, on the back where the threaded part of the pivot ball where it comes through the back there is a metal ring(very hard to see, same color as the black plastic) must be removed and installed on RPM carrier to prevent the balls from popping out.

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

My E-Revo and 2 Nitro Revos are a couple of years old now, and none of them have metal rings on the axle carriers.. Was there an update?

I read the instructions included with the updated 5334R Traxxas axle carriers and it's said these rings are bearing adapters required only if you use the inner bearings of the old 5334 Traxxas axle carriers which are smaller than the inner bearings of the 5334R model.

RPM use their own design for their axle carriers so I don't understand why you want I use the bearing adapters with these carriers

One of my pivot ball pops out my RPM axle carrier because it suffered a lot during the skate park session. It's not because I forgot to use something.

Yes freeagent there was an update, a bit old by the way . The axle carriers have been reinforced around the pivot ball holes with built-in alu rings. Links above.
