FYI sikeston has a lot of knowledge and experience in this area. I know he won't toot his own horn so I will for him. I would gather as much info from him as you can.

Uh oh............Now I'm in trouble. LOL

I once did a Direct Drive to Diff E Revo. Here's the thread on it. A long read, but you will see the challenges I faced.

http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...outrunner+Revo

With Direct Drive using such a large Diff ratio has it's problems. I also tried the 10/43 Buggy gears for the Revo, and they wouldn't hold up. The Torque was too much for the diffs to handle.

The E maxx has the same gear ratio as the Revo.

I can see in the future, a working outrunner project, but this is waiting on Castle HV Line of Mamba Controllers.

A low kv outrunner on HV, would startup great and haul butt with top speed.

Anticipation. LOL

Before the Direct Drive to Diff Revo, was this E maxx.

It's outrunner motor was attached straight to the Tranny.

It ran like:

The e maxx motor was a TowerPro 3520 660kv motor. It performed well.

I love outrunners and how they work, but the truth is............For gearing, there is a sweet spot you want to find.

Too high on the gearing, it will cog on startup and run hot. All the while, exploding diffs and shredding your drivetrain.

Too low on the gearing, and it's like having a low geared diesel. LOL

I like the fact that Castle is perfecting the "Torque Limiting" feature for their ESCS. If this is perfected by the time the HV Mamba controllers hit the market, Bingo! That's gonna be a class act for some outrunner setups.
