I say screw it, and just plop it on a beach and see how far it goes.
Then go swimming on the beach... Shouldn't go too bad?

When's the plan date for this feat?

Cool videos there. Considering the laws of physics I knew it could be done. The trick is not to stop for any reason. Stability is the key. As long as you have a stable platform and you can keep it going straight you are golden. Trust me you do not want any kind of string to deal with at those speeds. If anything at all gets crossed up you are going to have a real mess on your hands. Think of it. If the string touches one of the spinning tires it will act like a high speed winch and wrap everything up right in the middle of your run. You just have to go for it, and for safety sakes place some kind of floatation in your design, and have a means for retrieving the vehicle should anything at all go wrong. Good luck with that.

Thanks Jerry, I am still uncertain to the string or foam method. I have some bubble wrap as well as the idea if blowing up some small balloons under the lid. I see the concern in the rope and believe you me that already came to mind. I figured I would try some runs with some line on a spool first to see its reaction than go for there/

Rawfuls, I am down for some trials tomorrow. I am trying to get a boat on the water tomorrow as well. I will bring the video camera, I should be able to get some of the trials on tape. I am planning on completing the all out actual race either next week or the week after.

I finished the diffs, 100k weight in all three. The Paddles are all go. All that is left is to mock up a hull for the front. I think I am going to see what the trials look like before I decide on how serious I need to take the floatation or string ideas.

I plan on taping the sides of the body to the mudguards for a slightly better seal.

I also moved all of the shocks to there highest setting, and took out some of the preload in the rear to have the front sit upwards.

Tomorrow will tell if I
