Sub $200 range would be fantastic, I'm actually Bidding on a notebook on ebay right now.
Dis-calmer!!!!!!! If any one here bids on this laptop I will hunt you down and send linkpimp wearing his pink fuzzy panties to your house! got it! Good.... (Though seriously, don't even think about I really need this pc for school. ) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
It has every thing I need from the looks of it, it's a hell of alot newer than my old laptop and a loooooot lighter. the only thing I'm gonna do is add upgrade to 2gigs of ram and buy a new battery.

between the CPU, ram(ddr1) 30gb HDD, and a bad batt I wouldn't buy it...
win7+the other programs will take up 20-25gb of the HDD, its probably a IDE HDD which is going to be hard to find(FYI 1 movie is 1-2gb)
the bat is $30-40 min
WTF is he doing removing USB ports, they don't "just go bad"
the fact it has a dial-up modem says how old it is.
no warranty, so when something goes wrong 46 days after you pay for it, your SOL
between this and a $200 netbook, BUY THE NETBOOK!!!
there are beater deals to be had, if you can wait, I would highly suggest waiting until the black friday/cyber monday sales....

Never heard of it. -

Well I have never heard of that brand name before, but you get what you pay for at those prices. It will more than likely sell for $200 or more, but if you get that and have to add more RAM and get a new battery why not just spend the money up front and get a better laptop from the start? Plus a 1.4 CPU is pretty old technology and not very fast.
One thing I have learned over the last few years of buying laptops, desktops, and even building my own computers is that you really need to do your research and purchase what you need up front. If you settle for something less and expect to upgrade you will end up losing money left and right trying to turn a piece of crap into a worth while computer.
For a good PC take out a student loan at your bank and get yourself a good notebook that you will surely be happy with and pay for it over the next year or so. Did you shoot Art1k an email like I suggested? He knows a lot about notebooks, and can help you out with making the right choice, and might even be able to work with you to get a good deal. If you buy a $65 computer you are going to end up with $65 worth of junk.

If a deal looks too good to be true, you can bet that it is a rip off. That notebook is a piece of crap. Don't get realed in by some slickster trying to rush and end up wasting your $$$$. Either do your reseasch or hook up with someone who can help you get what you need.

I get what you guys are saying, That The 30gig hdd threw me for a loop on whether or not to bid but all I need it for is word processing and cruising the internet no games nothing not even movies, (I get those free streamed threw a web sight nothing on my hard drive)
It has win 7 and office 2007 I need both those for school.(word files are all threw flash drives)
As for too good to be true? prolly...but I'll have to see how high it goes. I for sure, sold fact, won't buy it if it get's any were near $100.
Also Averetec is a little known American company that actually sells good computers cheap, My bro-inlaw bought one and my sis has one and they both like them.
Now for parts support? your kinda Sol unless it's brand new but they have been making pc's for years
The way the stats line up this thing is just a netbook with a cd drive. yall atom processors and stuff are only 1.4-1.8ghz. but idk I won't be crying if Loose or win the auction I just need some thing atm. I can always re-list it and get my money back(unless I'm the only dummass to bid on it, even for ebay)

Check out The HP Pavilion dm3-1039wm I found a factory refurbished one for a real good price(hint not on ebay) I think I might buy it, it's a real slick laptop.
It get's A++ reviews as a fast portable spunky notebook. it's technically a netbook cause it lacks a cd drive,(I don't care no biggie) but it's like 1 -1/2 x the size a of a net book...so call it what ya like I don't think it has a classification lol

its the "walwort" specific model, from what I'v seen its still $400 ish, don't buy it...
what is your max price, what do you want it to do, what is your max wight/size?
also, check out places like slickdeals.net usually there are a few good ones in the forums, or there is usually a 15-20% off of dell outlet laptops..
I will find something...

You sure about that? The one I'm looking at is a factory refurbished unit from best buy
What I want in a lap top!
A. 14-13" screen no larger no smaller- preferably wide screen
B. at least 2 gig of ram
c. Windows 7 with office 2007 <-absolutely necessary
D. duel Core mandatory
E. hdd- up for grabs when it comes to size 60+ though
F. WIFI has to work
G. battery has to work
H. I'm really only looking at refurbished laptops/notebooks
I. Under $500
^ If you guys can find me some thing better than the Hp dm-1039wm, that fits within those parameters I'm def all ears^

I'll have a list of 5-6 by 9pm tonight.. hell for that price, you could get a VERY nice laptop, you just have to know were to look my laptop was under $600 and will play ALL modern games...
most refurbished ones aern't worth the $$, they are usually older models for a few $$ less than the new ones with the same specs, and its used
do you have a .edu email? if so, you can pick up MS office/win 7 pro for $80/30
EDIT: have you used vista since the latest updates? it is 98% of what win 7 is...
