Makes sense. I've yet to run anything on 6S other than my Truggy which took it like a champ.

I originally bought my Savage because it was so easy to turn it into a large truck. I will run mine on 6s, but with the 1717 motor so it won't be nearly the same as what you did.

6s definitely requires a centre diff to keep anything under control. I guess thats why truggys seem to handle 6s quite well...

Yeah, that makes complete sense. Even my truggy pops wheelies on 6s with 50k in the center. It would never do a back flip though.

Just got done doing a nice bash session with jumps, sand pits, high speed runs and general screwing around and im very pleased with the results of going back to 4S on standard Savage chassis. The truck isn't quit as "stable" as the XL for obvious reasons but beyond thats, its just more entertaining to drive. It now looks, feels and acts like a monster truck, powering over everything in its way. 4S is more then enough authority to get it moving, even with 80% punch control, it I can still do wheelies and mid air control easy. I didn't hear the ESC van kick on once and the motor stayed below 110f the entire time. The speed is "just right" when the tires start to balloon at max throttle, its borderline controllable but no where near as bad as 6s was. The truck jumps and lands well and because its more "compact" vs the XL conversion, it recovers easier from bad landings and crashes. Nothing broke either, bonus!

I finally found the balance of fun, performance and reliability that I wanted outa my Savage! Next spring i'll be go back to 20t pinion, order more 4s lipos, paint a new body and possibly a TCS chassis and deanodize the color. Beyond that, im happy as peach!

im happy you are happy because im going to make my second savage stock length and lightweight as possible for all the reasons you have stated.
I want that un stable feeling again from the MT and be able to do standing back flips and rolling back flips too!

Just a few pics of FB2 at regular Savage size screwing around the truck today. I'm amazed at the handling difference between stock and XL, two different trucks entirely! I think my stupid Tork motor is still twisting in the damn motor mounts so I gotta figure out a way to stop that somehow as im sick of having to em take out, clean screws, re loctite and rescrew them in.

Try filing down the tubes that the screws go through, it should make it so you can get some more squeeze in the motor

When you say twisting - are you meaning rotating? Or are you still seeing forward-aft movement of the motor?

Zips took care of forward movement but now its rotating

havent you always had problems relating to your motor and movement within the mounts?

Maybe your struggling to torque the motor mount screws down ;) only joking

Maybe try and get more leverage some way on the screws?

Could drill and tap the mount for a set screw in through the motor clamp (use a cup point screw). But if its not causing any adverse wear on the pinion/spur, then I wouldn't worry about it.

No, my first Flux had no such issues. I've got nothing for my dremel to get these poles filed down, grrr guess I need to go to the hardware store.

If you can get to it with a file, just do that. You shouldn't need to remove much to get the needed bite. Remove too much and you may end up bending something when you tighten it.
