I would go with steel idlers for the trans. The stock sliders will need to be replaced with cvds for wheels and center. For 16 cells The 9L is going to get hot. I find the xl motors has less problem with this. The 8xl is a great motor. It would give you good torque and speed. Works well on 12 -16 cells to. It would take more if you choose.

I would also suggest an XL!
7XL if you're after speed, 9XL if you are after runtime. 8XL for something in between.
I have 7XL and an 8XL, and run them on 14 cells. I would suggest the 8XL to you. Can't go wrong.
And yeah, Mikes steel idlers are a good insurance for your tranny.
Driveshafts, if you can afford, otherwise you'll be waiting for replacements in no time. (BL power is just too tempting to always ease into throttle)
