So a smooth stroke has even pressure through out the stroke. Thanks Hippie.

The ride this morning was OK. We could've done better, at least me and Dad could've Dad rode his relic, just so he could say he did it all in one gear Which meant I blitzed them both on the hills

Correct my understanding of what is considered a smooth pedal stroke, is consistent even pressure on both the up & down stroke. watch the First video i posted above. He is considered to have a very smooth pedal stroke. which relic did your Dad ride ? post a pic of it when you can. I'm getting my single speed ready for it's first ride.

I watched the video. Not that I can really notice the difference by watching but I understand what you mean

I'll try to remember to take a pic next week.

I don't get to ride this week :( other stuff going on. However, I did get to take a pic of his relic on my phone. Those are Dad's wrinkley old fingers in the corner.

There is an offroad trek coming up and he has submitted his application to compete with 2 other blokes. There are more applicants than positions available though. So he is looking at forking out another $3-4K for a flash offroader. His $300 job is apparently not up to spec

Apparently it's a mystery?! Neither Dad nor the previous owner know what make it is. It has been fitted with shimano 600 gear and durace cable clips. He's fixed up the gears so they change better. I can't wait for next sundays ride, 'cause I missed a week

Simano 600 was very very good for it's time. I believe the 600 line became ultegra line in the late 80's or early 90's. I rode my rollers for 1/2 hr or (10) miles, with my Madone, yesterday. I also rode my Fixed gear bike on my Trainer for a 1/2 hr yesterday as well.
