My MRX-3 on road conversion done RCM style -
11.07.2010, 01:39 PM
Well here is my conversion... I even have reverse!
I had the one way bearing removed and a sleeve pressed in to make it direct drive which enables reverse.
Took it out for its maiden voyage today and wow it is so responsive and being able to corner at 30+ mph is a rush
Set up is: 6S w/1512 1800kv 49 /17 gearing

Lola body I believe I have for it...came w/car when I bought it.
Forgot to mention that the trays are Mike's handy work as well as the motor mount is a nitro Revo mount
Once the sand is all over the p lots so I can no longer run, I am going to make the brace that the battery trays are mount to out of CF to lighten it a tad more

WOW. Very nice man. I always wanted a setup like that, but too rich for my blood. Cornening at high speed is a rush heh.

Actually the roller and huge spare parts lot was only $ 200- so I think that I got a relatively good deal. The car was used very little and with the amount of spares I have, I could race it for a whole season.

nice setup ........if you want real speed go for the 2650 with 44 spur and a 25 pinon me and my friends have done well over 85 mph in 300 ft drags.

Unfortunately, I have no where to run that would enable me to use the 2650 motor. Trust me, the 1800 on 6s is plenty fast for me as I have not driven a 1/8 on road before this.

The mount is actually very slick...I was trying to figure on a custom mount set up when I remembered this mount in the RCM store. I do need to do a tad more grinding of the mount for bolt clearance but for now it will work just fine. The hardest part was trying to figure where to drill through the RCM mount to bolt to the chassis. Not a lot of room under the motor so placement of the bolts took a little thought due to the motor clearance

What made you even consider useing that mount? Did you have a revo before? If you ever shatter that cheap pot aluminum, check out the Integy mount.. I know they dont make very many good things, but some of their stuff is decent. Normally I would never say anything like that..
Either way man, thats a serious machine, I like it

I had a revo conversion I did 2 yrs ago and still had the mount. The mount was made by Mike here at RCM so it is by no means a cheap mount as far as materials go so it should hold up nicely

He's not using the "cheap pot aluminum" Traxxas mount. He's using the rc-monster revo motor mount shown here: http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...d=RCMrevomount
Because it has a flat mounting surface to adapt to the stock revo mount, it also adapts quite well to other custom applications as well.
