Bought a Castle Neu 1520 (1600Kv) for $65 from Castle's clearance sale, so the Tekin will be my spare motor or will get a new home in a custom project eventually. Probably going to swap endbells between the two though, since the Tekin already has M4 holes in it. Maybe I will get lucky and the 1520 can will have 3 more optional tapped holes in the can so I can use 6 bolts to hold on the endbell like Tekin does. Will probably just do a brushed finish on the Castle Neu also since I don't care too much for the green.
Haven't done much to my MGT yet but got a few more ideas for it. Also, probably won't be seeing a billet version of my motor mount for a while. I had signed up for a machining course at the community college here and last word was that it was going to be canceled because the instructor had to take a family leave or something like that, and I just don't have the experience or skill with my mini mill to try making something like that right now. I'd rather know how to do it right in the first place than experiment and screw up $60 3''x3''x3'' cubes of aluminum in the process. So in the mean time, I will get more practice by machining my current motor mount, and hopefully achieve a look similar look. Probably going to weld on the mount in some areas to build it up and then machine it back down to get a more uniform surface.
I'm kind of disappointed with Castle. I ordered my motor from them over a week ago, I got an order confirmation but still no shipping confirmation.... I'll give it a few more days before I email them, but with as good of a customer service experience I've had with them before, this seems very unlike Castle's usual ways.
1) This should save you some money if you plan on making a one piece unit.
2) Thomas or Patrick of Castle said they had received over 400 orders last week... they are just backed up. Did you happen to order a 1518? They sold out...
