That is a big motor.
It would almost pull my ford focus down the road.
So who is going to be first to get this and try it out?
Peace!

Off the top of my head I think if you reference a Neu 2225 you will have an almost exact set of dimensions.

Padrino, I'm talking about the esc, my friend. The motor will be an absolute overkiller. You see, I'm planning to use a BigMaxximum with fan in my truggy with 6s, and I need a more than capable esc to do me this job. The size, however, might be a hinderance.

I believe they will be closely comparable to the regular air versions, size wise- I think unless you have alot of chassis space or an upper deck for the esc, you may well issues, though thats just a feeling rather than solid fact..

So are these shipping yet? On time for Christmas? Can you give an overall footprint? And lastly, really ~~$300? I just mean the ESC. How about the Combo? (If)
Might be a bit much for a christmas present... and the Maxx...
Thank You Castle

It is pricey -- but it costs a lot to make 7hp work right brushless.
For ESC dimensions see:
http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...ix_Ice_200.pdf
The motor is 2.25" x 4.4" (57mm x 110mm) and weighs 44 ounces (1250 grams.) Compare that to a 1515 which weighs 14 ounces (395 grams.)
This is a big, powerful system. There's almost $100.00 in parts cost in the motor alone (and that doesn't count labor, machine time, etc..) The majority of the cost is in the MASSIVE magnets used in this motor.
The ESC has 72 Infineon MOSFETs, almost 40 copper bus bars, and uses 8ga wires (and the wires STILL get hot when running full-out,) and 8mm bullet connectors. The design uses a 6 layer power board, heavy copper (in addition to the laminated bus bars) and is designed to withstand the rigors of ultra-high power switching.
It's been a blast designing this system -- but unfortunately it can't be made any more inexpensive than it already is. Perhaps in a couple years we'll start seeing much lower costs (as MOSFETs get better--) but today the cost to produce the system is what drives the cost to the end-user.
Thanx!
Patrick

Hi Patrick, I'm glad to read about the move to 8guage wire, I'm a boater and have a couple of Hydra240s, they are good ESCs but I do find the twin 10guage wires a PITA both to solder and to route in tight spaces, will the new marine ICE line have single 8guage wires too or twin 10guage?
Hot Bodies Lightning 2 Pro carbon, Mega 22/30/2, MMM, 4s3-5Ah.
Tamiya F201 carbon, Mamba 7700, MM, 2s A123 2.3ah.
Xray XT8, 1518, MMM, 4s5Ah.
Lots of boats.

Wow, I think the Castle repair kit for this kind of motor will cost a little more than 25$ then
Inferno VE MMv3 NEU-CC 1515/1Y 4S "Flying machine"
MBX5T Prospec MMv3 NEU-CC 1520/1Y 6S "Overkill Flying machine" ;)

Patrick,
Have you heard anything else on delivery of the Mamba XL products? We've gotten a Baja 5B all ready for the conversion kits and Castle equipment here at the shop.
