Yep, great work surface that is easy to clean and quite resilient to abuse.

I still have a 12 ft section that had the sink in it. I have an area next to my hobby room that will be a kitchenette and bathroom someday. Save me walking down the stairs everytime I need to take a leak.

And yes, my kitchen at the new house had 25 linear feet of countertop. Now it has pretty quartz, and I made a breakfast bar with a 12 foot long top. And extended the area below it and added a base cabinet with a microwave drawer(power open and close, extra gangster.) So now I have 42 linear feet of counter. And it does seem a bit excessive, but looks cool.

Looks good James. Nice to see that you are using more than your painting skills these days. Make sure you keep a pice of scrap wood on the bench for drilling and working on so you don't tear up the laminent countertop. Get yourself a piece of lenoleum or rubber to work on and it will stay looking good for a long time. I cannot believe that you didn't go over to Lowes or Home Depot and pick up some cheap cabinets on sale instead of using 4"X4" posts. You have a lot of room there to set yourself up some nice shop like work space using upper & lower cabinets.

I will take a pic of the rest of the room, I have tons of storage, shelves, cabinets, etc. It is about 600sq feet. And I was doing all of this with used, free material. I do not like spending money on stuff that will just get used and abused, especially when I do not have to.

I have quite a few big totes that will be placed under on side of the bench, and the various tall power tools I have will go under the other side when I am not using them. Drill presses, bandsaw, shop vac, etc.

Should have it cleaned up and photo ready in a few days.

Not to hate on the posts, but if you need more legroom you could swap those posts out for some angled supports. My dad made these for the workbench in the garage and the one in the hobby room. They're rock solid and they rarely get in the way.

I had planned to do that ML, but decided on the 4x4 legs for 2 reasons.

1. they were free, and I have alot more 4x4 material that is over 2ft long than 2x4.

2. I want to be able to put the large plastic totes under this bench, and they can fit nicely between the legs and the wall. If I had a diagonal brace where I have the legs I would only be able to get 2 totes under there, with alot of room on each end, but not enough to fit another. And if I had used diagonal braces like you pictured I would have had to had 4 of them to fit the totes well between them. Also I wanted a center leg as that is where the 2 pieces of counter connect. And I wanted the bench vise in the middle, and I wanted a leg tieing that directly down to the floor for stability.

Only took me about 4 hrs to build, and this included going thru material, de-nailing, and making about 50 trips up and down the stairs. Plus i did it all by myself, so I had to clamp and rig alot of times to get stuff level and plumb.

I am happy with the result, and the front of the legs are about 5 inches back from the front of the counter so they are not in the way.

Will get some shelf material (have the shelf brackets but do not have the board) when I am picking up casing for the kitchem project. I also need 1 more light stip and bulbs, and some wire to get it powered. Will be nice to have a 12ft shelf just above the bench.

And just to note, I can jump on my workbench, I would not try that with the angle supports that are only bolted to the wall. I am not a small guy, by any means, and everything I build to work with has to be able to carry my own weight times 2. I have stood on many a bench to weld something weird clamped in a vise, or bend something long.

Yeah its oil. Managed to knock over some used oil I had parts soaking in, crap I say!!!

WOW that is one fancy soldering station you have there. What in the hell is that thing? You must be one of those career electronics geeks who can repair just about any circuit board issue. Nice little space though. We are about to move out of our casstle here in Korea. I will miss our R/C shop, but we have a two car garage there, and half of it will be our new R/C shop. Right now it is completely empty and needs some cabinetry and a good work top to get things moving. I will post up once we settle in. It will be a cheap setup since it is only a temporary home for us. We will be there for two maybe three years if we are lucky. Thats just the life in the US Foreign Service.

I will have to take a better pic once I clean up the garage and do a panoramic pic of my stuff. Actually there is a third soldering station. The big black Metcal sitting on top of the orange colored torque controlled screw driver. Recently the top MTB soldering/desoldering station went kaput. Dunno why, but I'll open it up and check it out. No I'm not a soldering geek. I just like to go overboard when I solder the occasional cap to my ESC............
