The 1521 1y you have coming will certainly handle 8s. Now do you really need 8s...

I ran the other in both my muggy and my lst. Both on 6s. Plenty of power, both geared for 45mph and always bashed on mixed surface, street, grass and dirt. Did just fine.

Me, I am having trouble with the xl only handling 8s. It is really designed for the larger scale stuff, to be used with the 2028. We need a good 10s esc with motor brakes to come from CC. Maybe the same overall output capability as the MMM, but 10s capable with brakes. That would open up alot of opportunities. People are starting to see just how great HV really is. And to think just a few years ago 6s was "too much" and "why did anyone want that"... Once I went past 4s in a heavy vehicle ther was no turning back. Now I run 4s in 10th scale and on road... LV sucks.

I agree. 8S? What's that about? It's sort of pointless, ESPECIALLY at that price. I expected them to release 10s at that price, but I'm guessing it will be twice as expensive.

I see the xl setup with the 2028 motor as a dedicated 5th scale setup. But I do also agree that 10s would be better. Weight is not a huge consideration for 5th scale and having 2 more cells, even 5000mah 40c cells, would not add much to a 20+ lb truck.

Totally. I can see that 1/5th scale owners are all over this, since there aren't that many ESCS that can handle all that weight with ease. But I wonder why they didn't opt to go higher on the voltage. Do the HV components cost insanely much more? Must be the code, or something, since air and sea HV escs are relatively cheap.

Would it really be that hard to get a car-dedicated ICE HV @ 10S, even for 1/8 cars, at a reasonable price like 250-300$?

Pretty sure it has something to do with motor braking, causes alot of regen (or whatever) and the internals need to be able to handle that.

Heres an Idea (capitalized it cause it is that good):

Take the largest amp capable air esc, and put car software on it. Forward only, no brakes, and make it opto. That way it should not be able to be overloaded, and has to be used with mech brakes. And make it car radio freindly.

Maybe i am asking for too much? Not well versed in esc design!
